Create a NAS Backup Job on Veeam v11

Today we will show how to create a NAS backup job (NAS created at NetApp ONTAP) on Veeam v11.

1. On the left-hand navigation pane, click Home. Select Backup Job.

Click File Share….

2. The “New File Backup Job” wizard is opened, then enter NAS Backup in the “Name” field.

3. Click Add… to specify the files and folders to be backed up by this job.

4. Select the NAS.

Remark: Any new SMB/NAS share created within the ONTAP cluster will automatically be added to this backup policy.

5. Click Next.

6. At the “Storage” step, click Next.

7. Click Next.

Remark: We can specify a secondary repository to store additional copies of backup files
from the backup storage for redundancy.

8. On the “Schedule” tab, we check the Run the job automatically box. Click Apply.

9. On the “Summary” tab, select Run the job when I click Finish check box.

Click Finish to close the wizard.

10. Lastly, monitor the NAS Backup Job and wait for it to finish. Click OK once the job has finished.

Veeam is now protecting all NAS shares on NetApp ONTAP cluster. Any new NAS shares created within the cluster will automatically be backed up with the protection job.
