Updating ESXi Hosts with vSphere Lifecycle Manager

In vSphere 7, vSphere Lifecycle Manager(vLCM) enhances the functionality that vSphere Update Manager provided in previous vSphere releases. It adds features for managing the ESXi host life cycle at the cluster level. You can access the vSphere Lifecycle Manager user interface in the HTML5-based vSphere Client.

In this post, we will show how to update the ESXi host with vLCM. In the vSphere Client, select Menu > Lifecycle Manager.

In the Lifecycle Manager pane, click ACTIONS > Import Updates.

Import ESXi Image, Vendor Addons and Components into LCM.

After that, you can see the update images in each tab.

Select your DataCenter and click the Updates tab.

Click RUN PRE-CHECK in the Image Compliance pane. Scroll down to view the compliance check results.

Click REMEDIATE ALL. The Review Remediation Impact dialog box opens.

Ensure that the I accept the terms of the end user license agreement check box is selected and click START REMEDIATION. Then monitor the remediation progress in the Image Compliance pane.

Verify that the remediation completes successfully.
