Deploying the Site Recovery Manager Appliance

We will perform the following installation procedure on the SRM Appliance at the protected and recovery sites.

Log in to the vSphere Web Client or the vSphere Client on the protected site. Right-click a host and select Deploy OVF template.

Choose the SRM OVF file , then Next.

Specific the Virtual machine name, select the target location for the virtual appliance, and click Next.Select the target compute resource, then Next.Review the details of SRM appliance, then Next.Accept the end-user license agreements (EULA) and click Next.Select the number of vCPUs for the virtual appliance and click Next.Select a destination datastore and disk format for the virtual appliance and click Next. Select a network from the list of available networks, set the IP protocol and IP allocation, and click NextChoose one of the following options for the Site Recovery Manager Appliance hostname.

Set the admin, database and root user passwords, and click Next.

Review the settings and click Finish.

Power on the Site Recovery Manager Appliance.

Take a note of the IP address of the appliance and log out of the vSphere Web Client or the vSphere Client.

Go to the Site Recovery Manager Appliance Management Interface at https://appliance-IP-address-or-FQDN

Click Launch SRM Appliance Management

Log in as admin.

Click the Summary tab and click Configure appliance.

In the Platform Services Controller, specific the information about the site where you deployed the Site Recovery Manager Appliance, then Next.

If prompted, click Connect to verify the Platform Services Controller certificate.

On the vCenter Server, select the vCenter Server instance with which to register the Site Recovery Manager Appliance, and click Next.

On the Name and Extension, specific the information with which to register the Site Recovery Manager with vCenter Server, and select the default Site Recovery Manager extension identifier, or create a custom extension identifier.

  1. Enter site name, administrator email address, and local host IP address or name.
  2. Select the default Site Recovery Manager extension identifier or create a custom extension ID for this Site Recovery Manager pair and click Next.

Remark: Both Site Recovery Manager instances in a site pair must use the same extension ID.

Review your settings and click Finish.

Remark: To configure the Site Recovery Manager Appliance on the other site, repeat the procedure.
